The name of this new site should be the above title and not http://www.2manyguidos.com/. I saw this banner flying by when I was "sunning" on the beach and I was naturally curious. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find out that it was like NJ Guido but with no pictures just big bold predictions of how the Northeast guidos are going to take over the world through partying. Can we all just get along?

On a serious note, so I got a new job and I start this Monday so I am not sure how promptly I will be able update this baby. I would love to sit around drink some beer, eat pizza, and blog it out for the masses but I have a feeling I am going to be up to my ass in sales calls. Maybe I will surprise you.

Tuesday's the New Friday

So this day feels kind of weird. I am working a half day and then we have Wednesday off to celebrate the birth of our nation, and then back to work. However, many people like myself, took off Thursday and Friday, so today is like Friday. So here's what's up.

This Friday at Joey Harrison's Surf Club in Ortley Beach a great cover band will be hitting the stage. I have seen all the other bands like the Nerds and Big Orange Cone tons of times, but these guys bring the best beach music around. The band is Badfish, and they are a Sublime tribute band. They sound so much like Sublime it is scary. This isn't always a good thing because they don't stray too much from the original songs and jam like Sublime used to do. But there is nothing like drinking a beer by the beach and listening to some live rock, punk, reggae, ska music. Plus they got $1.50 beers on Fridays.

Songs of the Summer

Usually about this time of the year I make a mixtape called "The Weekend of Dreams". I made volume III last year, and I have a few others in my collection like "Belmar Bhangra", "Mr. Manasquan", and "DJ Tanner Full House Party II". The mixes are basically a continuous blend of all hot summer jams, aka party starters. I have yet to throw one together this year, but I will soon enough. Weekend Happenings

On Saturday, my least favorite NY Giant in pressure situations, Eli Manning, got engaged in Hoboken to longtime sweetheart Abby McGrew. My sources tell me that after much debate he decided to pop the question at the bar El Cuatro at the pre-party for Saturday's Hoboken Puerto Rican Day Parade. Local resident and neighborhood watch coordinator Tanny Fats oversaw the proceedings to validate the announcement. Here is a link to a gay article about Eli. Look at the first comment posted. On another front, my brother told me that the Caged Fury match was a great time in AC with many more exciting, racially charged fights taking place in the stands than in the actual octagon. Ray Mercer kept the always honorable spirit of boxing alive by basically throwing the mixed martial arts fight versus Kimbo Slice. kinda lame.

Finally, on a completely serious note, my thoughts and prayers go out to my friend Phil's family as their patriarch passed away early today. Please say a prayer for them.

What's the deal with this guy on the left? I'm not sure if you troll the guido websites like me, but this guy keeps popping up in all the pics. He's everywhere. Sandbar, D'Jais, Headliner, Temps bro, and the list goes on. He's some sort of guido mascot. I want answers.

Cage Fury

This Saturday down in AC there is going to be a Mixed Martial Arts Fight (like UFC) between Kimbo Slice and Ray Mercer. Mercer is a former pro boxer and Kimbo Slice is the bouncer for the porno guys who do Milf Hunter. He's also a brutal street fighter that was tossed from a Tampa Bay Bucs practice for messing with Warren Sapp. This should be an interesting fight and some of our crew will be rolling down. So, I never made it over to Headliner in Neptune on Saturday night, but I did stop by Parker House for a bit. Everything I have been hearing is right on the money. The upstairs was full on guido. I even saw a few of my guido hunter friends from the mid 90's Djais era. I kid you not, when I walked in "Pump It Up" was blasting. It kind of threw me off for a second. Next I ventured downstairs into the firetrap and it was still filled with its usual cougars, so I had a beer and rolled back to the Squan. The Sprey was once again excellent and not too crowded in the Hoboken South (middle bar) room and Randolph West (rock room). I heard Headliner was excellent from my Belmar cohorts. So just to reminisce about what I missed, I rolled out an old MTV True Life clip.

Sunday, we picked up some lobsters for Dad's Day at a place called Haven's and Hampton on the Shark River in Belmar. I steamed those babies up and they were excellent. I heard that lobsters have been hard to come by in NYC restaurants because of unseasonably warm water, so be sure to stop by this place or Klein's in Belmar to take advantage.

Just wanted to let everyone know how amped I am to be back in Manasquan for my 8th straight summer. I’ve been hittin up the shore club scene since the days of Haddaway and C&C Music Factory. You know how we do. Lately, I’ve been living in Jersey City just collecting unemployment, livin off my Moms, and makin beats for my new house music tracks. Welcome to Detroit Bitches, hahaha. I’ve been a resident DJ at Temps, Merge, and D'Jais a few times in the past so you know I’ll be layin down the hottest shore flava in ya ear, nah mean. Takin’ us to the next level. I'm only a half share this summer but I bring mad game to the table. Usually I just go to the clubs in Belmar and bring back as many bitches as I can fit in my tricked out Scion tC, have that shit lookin like a clown car, nah mean. But this summer it’s on like a light switch as we’re goin all night long to the breaka-breaka dawn. Anyways, to the fellas, this is gonna be a summer you'll never forget, off the meat rack. And to my ladies, it's panty dropping time. Nah mean. Anyways, the rain has been droppin like it’s hot the last few months, kinda putting a damper on the scene, but the block is about to get hot as the warm front is movin in. Like el Nino and shit...shit....

I’ve just been training hard as hell up at New York Sports in Hoboken with Mario from 10th and Willow. Mario hooked up a nice training regimen that we’ve been following since March. Here’s what it consists of each day: 600 milligrams of Trim Spa, 6 hard boiled eggs for breakfast with a Metrx Shake, 3 bars of designer whey protein, two 16 oz vitamin waters for lunch (Dragonfruit/Power), and for dinner 2 steaks and a side order of laxatives. No snacking. Mario says snacking is for pygmies. Also, we work out 5 hours a day with free weights and various balance inducing exercises. 3 hours are devoted to lifting chest and biceps; because you know when I’m on the beach I wanna be looking like I’m carrying around two 30-Packs. The other two hours are devoted to various exercises to develop skill and coordination for dancing. I’ve got some killer two-step hops and glow stick routines in my repertoire. For the last two hours of the workout we do garbage can jumps to sure up our dexterity and also medicine ball twists to work the abs. My boy who starred in The Real Cancun and was an extra in Save The Last Dance uses the same workout and says chicks have been all over his jock, booyah!….

Anyways, I’m about to head out to GNC, but look for my next report about Jersey Shore Nightlife coming soon, and remember this….The Jersey Shore is my medicine and I'm bout to OD.

Go Home Bennys

The title refers to an ominous banner hanging on the Parkway on Memorial Day weekend. The animosity runs deep. However, I have a little history with the Jersey Shore. My grandfather bought four summer homes in the mid 1960's and early seventies. Three of the houses were located on LBI, and one was located in Beach Haven West, just off the island. He used to tell me that he had such a hard time keeping up with the maintenance of the properties because there were no businesses down there. No one lived down there back then. He couldn't simply call up a service to clean the house or landscape the yard. He and his family had to do all the work. So, sick of dealing with all the crap, and because of his love for boating, he decided to sell three and keep the one on the mainland bay. He docked his boat out his house in Beach Haven West. We still have the house today long since my grandpa has passed. We have been traveling down there since I was born, and the Jersey shore is my favorite vacation spot. My family still owns the house and it has been the site of our greatest parties, The Brenasance. So maybe you can't technically call me a Benny but I do get a rental share in Manasquan or Belmar every summer. I will continue to rent a house as long as there are houses. It is something my friends and I all look forward to each cold winter. It pains me to see the anti-benny movement getting stronger each year. Get Arty

Our good friend, Randolph native, and current Hobokenite Sean Bono has hit the big time. Bono came up with the idea for artists to battle hip hop style. Some of his parties in Soho have been off the wall with an eclectic crew of artists, hiphoppers, rastas, and old friends united for the cause. So last night was the end of Jersey's favorite family. All I hear at work today is how much it sucked. I have to politely disagree. First of all, this season was awesome. Lots of violence, comedy, and tragedy in every episode. However, I do agree that the "choose your own adventure" ending of last night's episode was somewhat frustrating, but I was still satisfied with the season overall. Dance craze of the Summer

So we were sitting around down in Manasquan trying to think of a hot new dance move to show off at our Sunday night excursion of Memorial Day weekend at the Headliner...And I thought to myself, why not take it back to the old school? Why not walk the dinosaur? I think i was in fifth grade when this jam was blazin up the airwaves. Senor Mustachio

Jersey hockey legend and Randolph native George Parros is a Stanley Cup winner(well almost). Although he did not log time in the finals he did help the Ducks bruise their way through via his flowing stache and hair. He is petitioning to get his name on the cup. Parros attended Delbarton and Princeton, and had a hot sister (now married, congrats) in my grade at Randolph High School. Congrats George, for bringing greatness to Jersey hockey.

So, I was watching a great 80's film last night called Thrashin. I used to love it as a kid but haven't seen it in awhile, so I rented the remastered version on DVD. It was somewhat cheesey but actually pretty sweet. It's a skater version of West Side Story with amazing 80's clothes and music. Plus, to my surprise, the Red Hot Chili Peppers make an appearance playing at an LA skate club. Next up for me, surfer flick North Shore.

The place is dope also because there is a bar/restaurant in front that has great bites, beers, and hipsters. It's not a condescending hipster scene. Everyone is pretty chill and just enjoys the vibe. Weekend Wrap

So we made it through another weekend down in Manasquan. The weather held off pretty good. Saturday was beautiful, and the post-beach bingo scene at Leggett's was close to perfect. The crowd was pretty rowdy led by a contingent of Rutgers football fans that were singing a sweet chorus of chants. "Let them play" was the best chant of the bingo session in reference to a little boy trying to make a shot into the hanging buckets with his crumpled up trivia sheet (had to be there). Bingo seems to kick start the daytime drinking session for everyone involved. After Leggetts, we had a great backyard bbq, and then it was off to the Osprey. The Osprey really has to do something about their slick beer battered floors. Patrons are falling all over the place in there. My friend broke her wrist last week, and my friend this week went superman style into the air before landing on his face....

Back in the real world, The Sopranos had a great episode last night, total carnage. The TV critic at the Star Ledger does a great job of wrapping it up on Mondays.

Another event of the weekend was former NFL player Johnnie Morton getting assed in his first Mixed Martial Arts fight. He also refused to take a drug test. If you look at the video, Morton looks jacked. The funny thing is he was the smallest guy on the field in the NFL. NFL players are absolute monsters.

Man-E-Faces

Ok, so the summer is full-on here, and I am hereby crowning Bocce Ball the "sport of the summer". I think it definitely wrestled the title away from Horseshoes, although many would debate this bold statement. It just that Bocce is such a gentleman's game. To me it really is the sport of kings. We had a great tournament yesterday in my back yard. The poorman's Corona (Sol) was flowing, the sun was shining, and the bullshit was freestyling. We like to call a good rap session freestyle bullshitting. I really is a true talent. My friend Packin is the absolute king of freestyling bullshitting. His flow is sick, son. No seriously, he has bullshitted young and old, man and women. It really is an art. He basically makes a living doing it, running a club called The Stone Rose. You should check it out sometime. It is in the Time Warner Center in NYC and it's all pishy poshy, if you are into that scene. So anyways, back to Bocce. We were freestyle bullshitting while playing Bocce. The thing I like about Bocce is that it breeds freestyle bullshitting. We were coming up with some funny-ass shit while playing yesterday. We somehow started talking about that dude from He-Man named Man-E-Faces. He's the warrior dude that you spin his headpiece and it changes him from a human to a monster, and then (I think) to a machine. Which is kind of retarded, but funny nonetheless. So we started thinking about this kid we know that fires up the drug scene and we named him Man-E-Faces from this day forward. Why? Because he can change from his normal face, to his weed face, and finally to his coke face.

I learned a new word today. Vulpine. There is a preview for the new HBO show John From Cincinnati, and they were talking about vulpine surf shop owner Luke Perry. Vulpine means: cunning or clever. Ahhh yes, it's Friday and that usually means two things. One, I am a bit hungover from last night's festivities, and, two, the weekend is basically here. Saturday's are generally my favorite day of the week, but Friday's are definitely close. I think Mondays have to be my least favorite day of the week. As in "some body's got a case of the Monday's". But whatever, back to my little intro right here. As you probably can tell, I have started a blog in response to many of my loyal compadres asking me about the now defunct Hoboken Hammers website. I loved that website and I think others got a kick out of it as well, but its day was done. The Hammers have all moved on to bigger and better things. Some are even married, if you can believe that. But, there is one thing that you can bet the house on...their spirit lives on in a new generation of hammers. Funny side note, people still ask me if they can get into the Hammers, like it's some social club or secret society like the Skull and Bones. Trust me, we're not that cool. Plus, no one really had the initiative to do all the paperwork. But anyways, if you think about it, we have been doing this shit for 7 years now. 7 years in this bitch. Some great times and memories. We have been doing this shit before Old School came out. Which btw, is one of the greatest comedies of all time. One of my favorite things was chilling out at our Squan house when it rained and watching that DVD like 5 times in a row while imbibing heavily. Then topped it off with a game of indoor Beirut (don't call it Beer Pong in Jersey). Another side note, what the hell took them so long to make a movie called Beerfest? Hollywood is so retardly behind the curve on the hot shit. People having been playing beer games for years, probably since the middle ages with mead or some other crazy-ass alcohol. (Mead is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented honey and water). Hmmm, sounds like a good experiment to me.

So anyways, back to my original point. The hammers are back and the old website has shape-shifted like Sandman into this new blog. I will try to fill it with fun-ass-shit like photos, trivia, quizzes, and nerdy crap. Welcome, and enjoy the spectacle.
